At Merced Scholars Charter School, we promote a program rich in diversity, strong in academic achievement, and commitment to providing each student with a personalized education of distinction. 2nd Annual Celebration of Learning

Merced Scholars Charter School Celebrates Their 2nd Annual Celebration of Learning

On Monday night at the Merced Scholars Charter School in Atwater over 150 people gathered to enjoy the 2nd annual "Celebration of Learning". This is a yearly event in which students can display their work for the year, as well as showcasing their talents and abilities.

Students Michelle Bullock and Rochelle Miranda were the Masters of Ceremony for the event and Student Org. President, Lexie Pivirotto-Britton provided opening remarks. Guest Speakers included the following; MSCS Administrator, Michelle Fagundes, Merced County Office of Education Superintendent, Dr Lee Andersen, and MSCS Advisory Chairperson, Karen Pivirotto. Mike Nelson, Merced County Board of Supervisors, was also in attendance to present the school with a Certificate of Recognition.

The event featured poetry readings by Freshman Tiffany Bailey, and Sophomore Krista Roberts. There were musical performances by Sophomore

Lexi Pivirotto-Britton and Junior Nathan Moreno. There was also a skit performed by students Megan Riise, TJ Roberts, Krista Roberts, Drew Roberts and Jon Magboo.

There were Student Recognition Awards handed out for Community Service, Academic Improvement and Outstanding Academic Achievement. Guests also took part in a Silent Auction with donations from the following businesses: Armstrong’s Feed & Pet World, Bagel Tyme, Chevys, Christina’s Finest Clothing, Essential Health Massage Institute, Joey

The evening ended with closing remarks by MSCS Teacher, Debbie Nishihama. Mrs. Nishihama thanked everyone for coming and reminded everyone that next year MSCS will be adding a middle school and will be able to accept students from 6th,7th and 8th grades, as well as High School students.

Merced Scholars Charter School 2nd Annual Graduation Ceremony Was an Evening to Remember

Merced Scholars Charter School held its second annual graduation ceremony at the Merced County Office of Education on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 6:00 PM. In attendance were seven of the eight graduates Alejandro Camberos, Alvaro Garcia, Kathleen Mackey, Viviana Mendoza, Giovanni Perez, Benjamin Suarez, and Richard Taylor, the eighth graduate, Krystyna Parreira, was unable to attend the ceremony. Merced Scholars Charter School is a Personalized Learning Program located in the Challenger Science and Technology Building, 3553 Challenger Way, Atwater, California.

The program commenced with Merced Scholars Charter School student, Lexie Pivirotto-Britton, singing the National Anthem, followed by an enthusiastic welcome from teacher, Debbie Nishihama. Teachers, Kristyn Lopez, Debbie Nishihama, and Maria Villanueva then related their personal stories and dreams for each of the graduates. Graduate, Benjamin Suarez, continued the ceremonies delivering an inspiring speech to the audience consisting of administrators, faculty, family and friends of over 85 people. Before the diplomas were issued, Mrs. Nishihama noted that each of the graduates was receiving a graduation diploma and congratulated all of the graduates for passing the California High School Exit Exam. Diplomas were then awarded by each of the teachers. Students were given balloon bouquets and heart-felt congratulations as the Second Graduating Class of Merced Scholars Charter School!
